Domingo Zapata (born December 22, 1974) is a Spanish contemporary artist, who lives and works between his studios in New York at The Bowery Hotel, Hollywood at the Chateau Marmont Hotel, and in the 16e arrondissement in Paris.[1] Zapata is best known for his figurative and abstract expressionist paintings of varying subject matter. Past series have included themes ranging from polo players to circus animals, and from hollywood actors to flamenco dancers and bullfighters. Zapata's paintings are predominantly mixed media works, featuring oil and acrylic paints as well as elements of collage from found objects, spray paint, and re-worked photographs.
